Legal Counsel

The Position

Lead recovery, insolvency and distressed-asset matters for lenders, resolution professionals and liquidators, and supervise the associates and coordinators on each file. You will advise on forum and strategy, appear or instruct counsel before tribunals and courts, and answer to the client for the result.

Scope of Work

1. 01Take charge of a docket of recovery, insolvency and enforcement matters from the first audit of the claim to execution
2. 02Advise lenders, resolution professionals and liquidators on forum, limitation, strategy and settlement
3. 03Settle pleadings, notices, applications, opinions and settlement deeds prepared by the team
4. 04Appear before the NCLT, Debts Recovery Tribunals, commercial courts and High Courts, or brief and supervise instructed counsel
5. 05Supervise associates, litigation coordinators and analysts, and review their work before it leaves the firm

Qualifications

• LL.B. and active enrolment with a State Bar Council, with at least five years of practice
• Substantial experience in debt recovery, banking, commercial litigation or insolvency under the IBC
• Sound command of the Code of Civil Procedure, the Limitation Act, the Negotiable Instruments Act and the SARFAESI and RDB Acts
• Ability to lead a team and to deal directly with institutional clients
